Legislative Day 2009

Photo of Wisconsin CapitolWHAT: The goal of Legislative Day is to help dentists and dental students become comfortable communicating dentistry's message to elected officials.

Join colleagues from across Wisconsin in raising visibility and understanding of dental issues among state legislators. Demonstrate the unity and strength of the dental profession. Make the day even more fun by inviting a colleague to join you on the trip to Madison.

Legislative Day 2008 snapshots

 
Attendees register for Legislative Day 2008 at the Monona Terrace in Madison.   Drs. Francesca DeRose (Racine), Jamie and Mark Braden (Lake Geneva), Mike Donohoo (Milwaukee) and Ryan Braden (Lake Geneva) use Legislative Day as a networking opportunity.
 
WDA President-Elect Dr. Mike Kaske (Twin Lakes) addresses the crowd.   Joint Committee on Finance Co-chair Rep. Kitty Rhoades (R-Hudson) calls MA "one of the most complicated programs ever created" and says any program's sustainability depends on self-directed services.
 
La Crosse Oral Health Coalition member Dr. John Mueller empahsizes creating local coalitions with non-dentists and treating MA patients in your practice helps bring greater credibility to the dental access issue.   WDA leaders and staff answer questions from audience.
 
A group of dentists and dental students visit Assembly Health Committee member Rep. Steve Weickert's (R-Appleton) office.   MUSOD students gather in the Capitol where they visited legislators' offices.
   
Fourth-year MUSOD student Andrew Olson and Dr. Jim Morgenroth (Brookfield) share WDA issue papers with Rep. Leah Vukmir (R-Brookfield), chair of the Assembly Health Committee.
