WEST ALLIS, WIS.,
Aug. 15, 2007 – Nearly 160 children, ages newborn to 16 years, displayed their pearly whites at the
20th annual Wisconsin Dental Association’s (WDA) Smile Contest on
Aug. 10, 2007 at the Wisconsin State Fair presented by U.S. Cellular. First,
second and third place prizes were awarded to the following children in seven
age categories and a special “tin grin” competition for those wearing braces:
Newborn – 2 years

Second place – Korynne Moga of Milwaukee
Third place – Nadaline Marshall of West Allis
3 years – 4 years
First place – Ashley Knicker of Sussex
Second place – Nathan Levelius of Glendale
Third place – Valerie Koenig of Wauwatosa
5 years – 6 years
First place – Cheyanna Blunt of Racine
Second place – Macy Brzeczkowski of Muskego
Third place – Tatum Brittain of West Allis
7 years – 8 years
First place – Kyle Brandenburg of West Allis
Second place – Luke Mallard of Chebanse, Ill.
Third place – Krista Meyer of Germantown
9 years – 10 years

Wisconsin contestants came from as far north as Weston.
The contest also drew out-of-state fair visitors from Illinois
and Texas.
All participants received a
collection of personal oral health care products and educational items. This
year’s judges included Greater Milwaukee Dental Association President Dr. Paul
Levine, WDA Milwaukee-area trustees Drs. James Morgenroth and John Moser and Brookfield dentist Dr.
Neill Luebke.
Oral health products, prizes
and financial support for this year’s Smile Contest were provided by D&S
Dental Lab Inc., Delta Dental of Wisconsin, Dental Health Products Inc., DenTek
Oral Care Inc., Patterson Dental Supply, Procter & Gamble/Crest, Saber
Dental Studio, Sullivan-Schein Dental, Sunstar Butler, WDA Insurance Programs,
WDA Foundation Inc. and the WDA.

Also last
Friday, Marquette University School of Dentistry students and WDA staff
distributed more than 4,000 free dental floss samples to adults and children
who visited the New Berlin Lions Club’s main corn roast booth between 11 a.m. and
2 p.m. This was the fifth year for the Floss at the Fair program which was made
possible through generous donations from Delta Dental of Wisconsin, DenTek Oral
Care Inc., Oral-B and Patterson Dental Supply.
