Bohman named first executive director of WDA Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WEST ALLIS, WIS., March 4, 2008 – Victoria “Vicki” Bohman has been named the first executive director of the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation.

Bohman is responsible for the foundation’s day-to-day operations and fund-raising efforts. She has worked in public relations and fund-development for several non-profit organizations including Curative Care Network, Cardinal Stritch University, Girls Scouts of the Milwaukee Area and Blood Center of Wisconsin. She also served as a loaned executive during the 2007 United Way of Greater Milwaukee campaign.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, Bohman has a bachelor’s degree in mass communication.

Bohman lives in Milwaukee and works out of the WDA Executive Office in West Allis. She can be reached at 414-755-4198 or by e-mail at vbohman@wda.org.

Every year the WDA Foundation awards scholarships to dental and dental hygiene students attending accredited schools in Wisconsin. In addition, it provides financial assistance to projects that deliver oral health care to the underserved and other dental-related philanthropic endeavors. In 2007, the foundation distributed more than $53,000 in scholarships and program grants statewide.

The foundation also administers the Donated Dental Services program. Since 1998, DDS has worked with more than 520 dentists to provide free, comprehensive oral health care valued at $3.75 million to 1,558 disabled, senior, poor and uninsured state residents. DDS patients do not qualify for government assistance programs and cannot afford dental care because a permanent disability, chronic illness or advanced age restricts their income-earning capability.

A qualified, tax-exempt corporation, the WDA Foundation was established in 1957 as the charitable arm of the WDA which today has 2,900 member dentists statewide.

The WDA is one of 53 state and territorial dental societies of the American Dental Association - the largest and oldest national dental association in the world. For more information on the WDA or the WDA Foundation, call 414-276-4520 or visit www.wda.org.
