How to subscribe to RSS feeds

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds make it easy and convenient to get frequently updated content via the Internet and subscribe to your favorite websites, blog entries, news headlines, audio and videos pulled together into one list.

There are several different ways to get RSS feeds depending on your personal preferences. Here are a few examples:

  • RSS readers – there are many popular platforms to get all your RSS feeds in one place such as Google Reader.

RSS
This is the universal RSS symbol adopted by the major Internet browsers. When you see this icon highlighted, it indicates an RSS feed is available.

These screenshots show an example of how the RSS icon lights up showing a feed is available. For example, WDA members can visit the Inside Madison section under Advocacy and click the RSS icon to receive automatic updates each time new content is posted in this section. Internet browsers may display the RSS icon differently, but end result is the same. The top screenshot shows where the RSS icon appears in Firefox; the bottom shows what a feed looks like in Internet Explorer after you've clicked the RSS icon.
