WDA Editor Dr. Dennis Engel and general dentist in Mequon was installed as the new 9th District trustee at the American Dental Association's 150th Annual Session in Honolulu in early October.

As 9th District trustee, Dr. Engel will represent Michigan and Wisconsin dentists on the ADA Board, which formulates and reviews policies and programs and makes recommendations to the members of the ADA House of Delegates.

Dr. Engel is a past-president of the WDA and has been a delegate to the ADA House of Delegates. He is in his third four-year term as editor of the award-winning WDA Journal.

The 9th District trusteeship was most-recently held by Dr. Raymond Gist, a general dentist from Flint, Mich., who was voted into the office of ADA president-elect at the same meeting. Dr. Gist will be the ADA’s first black president when he assumes the organization’s presidency in October 2010.

The WDA extends hearty congratulations to Drs. Gist and Engle and thanks both gentlemen for their dedicated service to organized dentistry.
