Dr. Eugene (Gene) Shoemaker

Wisconsin Dental Association Immediate Past-President Dr. Gene Shoemaker is a general dentist who lives and works in Waukesha, Wis.

Dr. Shoemaker joined WDA leadership in 2003 as a trustee representing the Southeastern Region. He was elected vice president in 2008 and president-elect in 2009. He served as president from Nov. 13, 2010 – Nov. 12, 2011. Dr. Shoemaker is also a past-president of the Waukesha County Dental Society.

His work on the American Dental Association Committee on the New Dentist and WDA’s New Dentist Committee and Mentor Advisory Group earned Dr. Shoemaker awards for outstanding leadership through mentoring from the state and national dental organizations.

Dr. Shoemaker was state chair of the first two WDA Foundation and WDA Mission of Mercy events in La Crosse in 2009 and in Sheboygan in 2010 and will serve as state co-chair for the 2012 event scheduled for late June in Madison. At the 2011 WDA MOM, he was the routing lead. WDA MOM events have provided in excess of $2.9 million in care through more than 5,700 patient visits since 2009.

He also has been a volunteer dentist at St. Joseph's Medical/Dental Clinic since 1993.

A Marquette University School of Dentistry graduate, Dr. Shoemaker is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy.
