WEST ALLIS, WIS., May 29, 2012 – The 3,000-member Wisconsin Dental Association was honored with four awards from local, regional and national organizations for its accomplishments in public oral health education and awareness and membership recruitment and retention.
The WDA Tongue ‘n’ Cheek…and Teeth, too! patient newsletter earned a Paragon Award of Merit from the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. These annual awards honor creative and strategic superiority and encourage a higher level of performance among public relations professionals. This is the WDA’s eighth Paragon Award since 2005.
Currently published twice a year, the spring/summer 2012 issue will be in WDA member dentists’ offices in June. All issues of Tongue ‘n’ Cheek…and Teeth, too! can be downloaded from WDA.org.
The WDA also captured a sixth bronze Telly® Award in the health and wellness category for local/regional television commercials. Its 30-second “Chew on This” spot is part of the statewide, multi-year WDA Baby Teeth Matter public awareness campaign.
Telly® Awards were established in 1978 by Emmy® and Clio® winner David E. Carter to honor outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials. The competition draws more than 10,000 entries annually from across the United States and five continents.
Finally, the American Dental Association presented the WDA with two of four national organized dentistry 2011 membership awards at its annual Recruitment and Retention Conference. One award recognized greatest net gain in membership among dental societies with 2,001 – 3,500 members and the second celebrates the greatest net gain of “new dentists” (those graduating from dental school within the last 10 years).
