|Volunteer registration now open
Online registration is now open for the 2011 Mission of Mercy.
New this year you will select your exact shift and assignment rather than only your preferences as in past years. Then, make sure to write it on your calendar as we will be counting on you to fill that slot!
Evening meals are listed as job options. Be sure to select Thursday orientation/dinner, volunteer dinner Friday and/or volunteer dinner Saturday. This helps us plan accordingly.
These are great opportunities to meet other volunteers and share stories over a meal.
Be sure to thoroughly read the instructions to ensure you are fully registered.
|Thank you partners, sponsors and donors!
We would like to thank the many partners, sponsors and donors who are helping us reach our financial goals.
We are close to reaching that $180,000 goal, but still need your help. Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the WDA Foundation.
Money is used for dental equipment and facility rental, supplies, pharmaceuticals and food costs. For every $1 received we are able to provide $5 - $7 of care.
Donations received since the last newsletter include:
- Dr. and Mrs. James Beck
- Brock Endodontics
- Caroline S. Mark Legacy Fund of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin
- Ms. Jane Edson
- Greater Milwaukee Dental Association
- Mr. Gregory Johnson
- Marathon County
- St. Michael Fund for Works of Charity
|Putting the 'fun' in fundraising
Dr. Jody Schilling, her husband, Sachin Tuli, and clinic team members will serve as "celebrity" guest bartenders for charity at Bonfyre American Grille in Madison on May 16 from 5 - 8 p.m.
All funds "earned" by the team that evening will be donated to the WDA Mission of Mercy, including $2 of every featured cocktail purchased that night and 50 percent of all tips received. They invite you to join them and support their spirits for a smile efforts. Thanks to Dr. Schilling and team and all who join them to support the cause!
The 'executive challenge'
Mark and MOM Program Coordinator Lani Becker are ready to put Greg's donation to good use after losing a friendly bet on the Packers-Bears NFC championship game.
Thanks to Illinois State Dental Society Executive Director Greg Johnson for making good on his word. Greg and WDA Executive Director Mark Paget hedged a friendly bet on the Packers-Bears NFC championship game - loser donates $100 to the other state's MOM program.
Now, Mark and Greg are at it again, this time with the Brewers and Cardinals.
Both feel their team will come out on top in each game played against the other, each series the two teams play and ultimately whose will finish ahead of the other. Proceeds from this friendly wager will benefit the winner's MOM program.
May the best team win – Go Brewers!
Equipment used in the MOM clinic comes from the America's Dentists Care Foundation, which recently purchased all new equipment that we will be using in June.
The foundation is looking to purchase more mobile dental equipment to meet the growing needs as more states join in the MOM movement and begin hosting events.
You can help join the cause on Facebook.
When you do so, Delta Dental Plans Association will donate $1 to ADCF and match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000.
The list of supplies and instruments that will be available at the MOM event in Wausau will be posted on WDA.org in May.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring their favorite supplies or instruments to make the day(s) easier.
We will have enough stools for dentists and hygienists. Dental assistants are encouraged to bring their own as the supply is limited and it's important that everyone be comfortable.
