WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Dr. Thomas J. Nockerts, a retired general dentist from Green Bay, has been elected president of the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation.

Dr. Nockerts has served on the WDA Foundation’s Board of Directors since 2020, assuming the role of vice president in 2021. He has played integral roles in its Donated Dental Services program and the Mission of Mercy. Dr. Nockerts has held delegate, board and committee positions at all levels of organized dentistry and has recently retired from active practice at Bay Dental Associates in Green Bay.

A strong advocate for the work of the WDA Foundation, Dr. Nockerts is looking forward to the challenges of growing the organization. “In this age of busy schedules, it has become more difficult to actively engage individuals in volunteer activities. The Foundation has not escaped this trend. I see this as my biggest task as I assume this new role,” he said.

Dr. Nockerts, a graduate of Marquette University School of Dentistry, served his community as a general dentist for 40 years before retiring from practice. He is a member of the International College of Dentists – Wisconsin Section and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In addition to dentistry-related activities, Dr. Nockerts fills his days with family, skiing and volunteering.

Dr. Christine Tempas, a retired general dentist from Sheboygan Falls and former president of the WDA Foundation, has accepted the role of treasurer. Dr. Tempas has served on the organization’s Board of Directors for more than 20 year, most recently holding the position of president.

Dr. James Morgenroth, a retired general dentist from Brookfield, now living in Wautoma, remains in his position of immediate past president. Dr. Morgenroth has served on the Foundation Board since 2010 and continues to be active in the Mission of Mercy.

Dr. Susan Cable, a general dentist from Kenosha, has accepted the role of state director. Dr. Cable was elected to the WDA Foundation board of directors in 2010 to represent the southeast region and previously served as treasurer from 2017-2021.

Dr. William Hutchinson, a recently retired general dentist from Eau Claire, has been elected to his first term as Region 1 Director. Dr. Hutchinson is a past president of both the Eau Claire County Dental Society and the Northwest District Dental Society, and has served as a delegate to the WDA House of Delegates. He has been a volunteer for the WDA Foundation’s Mission of Mercy event and Donated Dental Services program.
