 Your road map to life beyond the dental chair - 3-part series

The Wisconsin Dental Association (WDA) is launching a new three-part education series designed to help dentists navigate the personal, financial and professional decisions that shape their careers — both in and beyond the dental office.

The series, “Your road map to life beyond the dental chair,” will provide practical insights and resources for dentists at every career stage, from early career professionals to those preparing for retirement. Each session will be held on a Saturday morning, with registration and networking beginning at 8:30 a.m. and programming taking place from 9 a.m. to noon.

Part One: Early Career (Graduation to 10 years)

Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026

8:30 a.m. - Registration/networking

9 a.m. - Noon - Program

WDA office, Summit Place, 6737 W. Washington St, West Allis

First Floor, Conference Room 2135

3 CE credits

The first session will focus on building a strong foundation for a successful career. New dentists will learn strategies for creating financial confidence, protecting personal assets, and establishing the peace of mind needed to focus on providing exceptional patient care.

Topics will include insurance planning, financial foundations, career fulfillment, student loan strategies, retirement planning, investing, taxes and preparing for potential future practice ownership.

Featured presenters include:

  • Professional Insurance Programs (PIP) — Insurance considerations for dental professionals, including health, disability, life, malpractice, business, and personal insurance planning.

Part Two: Established Dentist (10 Years and Beyond)

As dentists move into the established phase of their careers, new opportunities and challenges emerge. This session will explore strategies for protecting what has been built while planning for continued growth and long-term success.

Attendees will learn about wealth strategy, practice growth decisions, profitability, risk management and preparing for future transitions.

  • Dynamic Dental Advisors — Exploring practice growth decisions, including adding associates, expanding services, partnership opportunities and  increasing profitability.

The final session will help dentists prepare for a successful transition from practice to retirement and life beyond dentistry.

Topics will include exit planning, practice value, retirement readiness and personal financial security.

  • SVA — “Strategic Exit Planning: Building Value and Preparing for a Successful Practice Transition,” covering key drivers of practice value, common risks that impact transitions, the importance of proactive planning and key tax considerations
