Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation announces newly elected board members
WEST ALLIS, Wis. – The Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation is pleased to announce the election of two new members to its board of directors.
Dr. Katie Satula is a general dentist and owner of Satula Family Dental in Hales Corners. She has previously served as the chair of both the WDA Elections and Credentialing Committee and the Membership Development Committee. Dr. Satula has been active in leadership positions with the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association, most recently serving as board president in 2024. She is involved in volunteer community dental events for low-income Wisconsin residents including Give Kids a Smile and the WDA and WDA Foundation Mission of Mercy. She is a graduate of Marquette University School of Dentistry (MUSoD) and a fellow of the American College of Dentists (ACD) and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Derek Schmidt is a general dentist and owner of Spring City Family Dental in Waukesha and DRS Family Dental in Greenfield. He served as a delegate for the WDA House of Delegates from 2019-2024. Dr. Schmidt has held several leadership roles with the Waukesha County Dental Society including president in 2022-23 and has served as a volunteer at the WDA and WDA Foundation Mission of Mercy. Schmidt is also a graduate of MUSoD and a fellow of the ACD and Pierre Fauchard Academy.
“We are extremely pleased to have these outstanding dental professionals join the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation Board of Directors,” said Dr. Gene Shoemaker of Waukesha, president of the Foundation board. “Their past involvement in organized dentistry will be a big plus as they help us fulfill the Foundation’s mission of improving oral health care and overall well-being across the state.”
